Spy smuggler : Paul Lelaud, France 1942-1944

Eldridge, Jim (Author).

Summary: Paul Lelaud is a 13-year-old boy living in a rural French village which has been under Nazi occupation since 1940. One night, Paul's best friend Emile is put into a cattle truck along with the rest of his family, and taken by train to an unknown destination. Paul joins the Resistance against the German occupation of his country as a crucial figure in the escape route for allied POWs and agents. It was only after the War that he learns Emile's family and other Jews were taken to an extermination camp in Poland where they were murdered.
