The boxcar children collection. Volume 36

Summary: The Vanishing Passenger: The Aldens are at the Greenfield train station to meet their favorite mystery writer! Gilbert Finch has agreed to come to their library and meet all of his fans. But when Finch's train arrives, there is no sign of him anywhere. The famous author has vanished! Will the Boxcar Children be able to find him? The Giant Yo-Yo Mystery: The Aldens are helping a local carpenter build a giant yo-yo that could break a world record! But when plans are stolen, it's clear someone doesn't want this yo-yo to be built. Can the Boxcar Children save the day? The Creature in Ogopogo Lake: The Aldens are visiting Grandfather's friend Abby in Peachland, Canada - home of the mysterious lake monster called Ogopogo. When the children learn that Abby must sell her resort unless she can attract more business, they decide to help. But someone or something is trying to get in their way. Can they save the resort? Three complete stories in one collection! Includes The Vanishing Passenger, The Giant Yo-Yo Mystery, and The Creature in Ogopogo Lake! The Boxcar Children Series was created by Gertrude Chandler Warner, a teacher, when she realized that there were few, if any, books for children that were both easy and fun to read. She drew on her own experiences in writing the mysteries. As a child, she had spent hours watching trains near her home, and often dreamed about what it would be like to live in a caboose or freight car. In each story, she chose a special setting and introduced unpredictable, unusual or eccentric characters, to help highlight the Aldens.
